Craig Sproston

Craig is WMLO's temporary Musical Director who has studied at Birmingham University and Birmingham Conservatoire. Craig is the former Head of Brass for Dudley schools and is a professional teacher and conductor, as well as being an accomplished musician on trombone, trumpet, cornet and horn.  He is currently the Musical Director for Phoenix Big Band and is Musical director for a number of local Operatic Societies.

WMLO, founded in 1982,  is a sensational 40+ piece ensemble of amateur players based in the West Midlands. We play songs from the libraries of Gershwin, Porter, Arlen, Loewe and more. We have unique arrangements of the best  songs from Broadway, jazz standards and Great American Songbook era. Since its formation the band has gone from strength to strength and in 2014 played at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

We play entirely for fun and for the shared love of the music.
